Caution: Places You’re Missing Out While Cleaning Your Office

Cleaning is a time consuming job, but what adds to this “time spent in cleaning” are those nooks and corners that are often missed out.

Ever since the pandemic hit the world, cleaning and hygiene are two words that we often come across. It is now not only important to stay safe for our own self but also for everyone around us.

Whether it is your home or an office cleaning, “regular people” often miss out cleaning some of the very common areas and here we are, offering you some tips to make sure your house or your office is 100% clean (because 99% cleaning is not enough).

Read till the end so that your office cleaning is absolutely perfect:

1) Inside and under your dustbin

We usually make sure that the garbage bag that collects your office dirt like banana skin, tissues, disposable, left over food, etc. are changed frequently. But, just take a minute to look at the inside of that dustbin and then, collect all your will power to have a look under the dustbin. You’ll be surprised, more surprised than you were after the climax of the movie, Fight Club.

Amidst the diligent efforts to maintain a spotless office environment, it's common to inadvertently overlook an area that can harbor hidden grime: the inside and underbelly of your dustbin.

While diligently emptying the bin's contents, the interior and underside can accumulate spills, residue, and odors over time.

Regularly cleaning and disinfecting the inner walls and base of the dustbin, along with the lid, prevents the build-up of unpleasant smells and potential bacterial growth. Extend your cleaning routine to include the area underneath the bin, as dust and debris tend to accumulate there as well.

2) Fire Extinguisher

Go to a mall, a bakery shop or the reception of hotel and you’ll see a 7 layered dust coating the beautiful shiny red can. Being one of the items you won’t use frequently, it is bound to be dirty. You may think that this is fine as you rarely go near that, but go back to see the 17th, 18th and 19th words, 7 layered dust, and you will realize that that heavy tin contains tons of allergies

Remember, office cleaning is not done by just cleaning the surfaces but is done by making sure the office is cleaned perfectly.

While often relegated to a corner or hung inconspicuously on a wall, the fire extinguisher plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of your workspace. Regular maintenance and cleaning of the fire extinguisher are essential to guarantee its functionality in case of emergencies.

Inspect its accessibility, ensure that the pressure gauge is within the optimal range, and that there are no obstructions hindering its reach. Regularly dusting and wiping down the fire extinguisher not only maintains its appearance but also ensures that vital instructions and labels remain legible.

3) Vents and exhaust fans

Vents and exhaust fans have one job and it is literally to keep the air clean and in the process of saving you from thousands of allergies, they sacrifice themselves but accumulating those allergy giving dusts.

Next time you go to your “clean office” see the exhaust fan, pay attention to it. We are sure you’ll not be that happy. Over time, these ventilation systems accumulate dust, allergens, and even mold, which can circulate throughout the office, impacting both health and comfort.

Regularly cleaning and maintaining vents and exhaust fans not only prevents the spread of airborne contaminants but also helps optimize the efficiency of your HVAC system.

Incorporate a schedule for cleaning or replacing air filters, and ensure that vents and fans are routinely dusted and wiped down.

4) Blinds

As the blinds’ role is to capture the sunlight, we could probably say that the UV rays kill some germs and bacteria but, we are sure that it does not protect you from the dust that settles on them. No recommending you to do this, but just take your finger and wipe over it and you will see what important part your office cleaning routine you are missing out.

When it comes to cleaning your office, one commonly overlooked area is the blinds. These seemingly innocuous window coverings can accumulate an astonishing amount of dust and dirt over time.

Neglecting regular cleaning of blinds not only affects the visual appeal of your workspace but also contributes to poor indoor air quality. Dust and allergens that gather on blinds can easily become airborne, impacting the health and well-being of employees.

Make it a point to include blinds in your cleaning routine by dusting them regularly and giving them a thorough cleaning with a damp cloth or a gentle vacuum attachment. Taking care of this often-missed spot not only improves the aesthetics of your office but also promotes a healthier environment, showing your commitment to a comprehensive and effective cleaning strategy.

5) Under the furniture

This holds true not only for an office cleaning routine but also for house cleaning. We take care of our furniture regularly but area under it has been one of the most common places that “regular people” miss out. These areas tend to accumulate dust, dirt, and debris, becoming breeding grounds for allergens and potential health hazards.

Regularly moving and cleaning under desks, tables, and cabinets is essential to maintain a truly pristine workspace.

Use a vacuum cleaner with attachments to reach tight corners and crevices, and consider incorporating furniture with legs to make cleaning underneath easier.

By addressing these often-neglected spaces, you ensure a comprehensive cleaning regimen that promotes a healthier and more inviting office environment for both employees and visitors.

Conclusion

“Regular people”, a term we’ve used in this blog quite often represents those people who want to enjoy their lives by doing thing they love. If cleaning is not one of those things that you love, why not enjoy your free time doing something that you actually like.
